BSOD - Vertical dashed lines in seperate columns on Boot Screen only

Hello all,

I have an HPDV9000 [w / Vista] and a few weeks ago it unexpectedly shut down and started the Blue Screen Error.

Since then I have been able to boot into windows "normally" once or twice.I can tell when it will not go to the Blue screen as there will be no sets of vertical dashed lines present on the boot screen. Since then I have been able to boot into windows "normally" once or twice. Once it does I can shut down and restart with no issues [I updated the video drivers during one of those times since I thought there was a bad video driver from the windows solution suggestion.] Though when I leave the computer on for awhile; I will come back to the black screen and the BSOD on the next boot. BTW, I did not install any new hardware or software prior to the BSOD.

Any suggestions?

To check your system files, recommend you go to the Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt
Click on Run as administrator
enter: sfc /scannow
There is a space between "c" and "/".
This could take from minutes to hours to run.

The command should run to 100%.
