To reduce the download size of VMware Fusion, an installer " light " (VMware -Fusion - <version-build> - light.dmg) Is available with VMware Tools for Windows and Mac OS X. When you install VMware Tools on a different operating system , VMware Fusion download the application from the VMware website . If you prefer to download a version of VMware Fusion , which includes all the VMware Tools package , download the full installer (VMware - Fusion - <version-build> . dmg or VMware - Fusion - <version-build> . iso).

One step of the migration process is to enable file sharing on your Mac . In addition , you must allow a client to connect to the shared folder so that the virtual machine created from your PC can be migrated to the folder . On your Mac , go to System Preferences > Accounts> GuestThen check the box Allow guests to connect to shared folders checked. If unchecked , the migration may fail , and the message " An error occurred while creating the virtual machine "message .

If you migrate your PC to a virtual machine with VMware Fusion and it is a member of an Active Directory domain , you can not run simultaneously the source PC and virtual machine migrated because they have the same computer name and system identifier (SID) on the network. You need to Change the identifier ( SID) of the migrated virtual machine .

To download the trial version of VMWare Fusion 3 , limited to 30 days of trial , it is necessary to create a Online Account. Too bad , but most commercial software requires prior registration. Once you're registered you can then login and download VMWare Fusion 3. Occasionally it may be that you can not reconnect to a Windows XP virtual machine for every entry in the password field is impossible. If this is the case, use the Ctrl - Alt- Delete to display the dialog box Windows Logon.

Once the virtual machine installed and configured correctly, do not forget to disable the Windows partition. Otherwise the next boot you will have the unpleasant surprise of not being able to run the bootloader partition OSX, and Vista will start automatically. To reactivate the partition OSX simply return fdisk with the terminal and type (where Z is the partition in HFS + which is installed OSX).
