The another way of opening the same is that you can get it work by the search menu. Just Click on start and then click on search and type "cmd" after that just press Ctrl + Shift + Enter button and you will get elevated command prompt open for you. So try this out and work with the problem of yours. Thanks

You can also make it working with the shortcut of command prompt. For that just place a shortcut on desktop and after that Pin the shortcut to the taskbar after that right click on the same and click on Properties. Now go to the Shortcut tab and click on the Advance button after that select the Run As Administrator and click on OK.

    1. Click the Start button
    2. In the Search box, type command prompt.
    3. In the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

question Re: How to start an Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 7?

Hello. I have tried every suggestion posited here and anywhere else I could find.
I am trying chkdsk an external USB-attached SATA drive and cannot get past the elevated issue.
W7 explorer shows the drive w/no attributes, Computer Management shows no issues with the drive.
    Can anyone help, please?

Re: How to start an Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 7?

Well the first thing here I want to tell is that to open any elevated command prompt you have to just see whether you are able to sign in through the admin account. Actually you have to just check while accessing the same command prompt you are the administrator or not. It happens if you are logged in as the normal user then there are many a thing which are right protected and you can access the same. So I guess after using the admin’s login you will definitely able to solve the issue.
