Problem on installation Solaris 10 on virtualbox 3.0.8

I did an installation of Solaris 10 on VirtualBox . I have512 MB RAM , 16MB video RAM and a 15GB virtual disk. I think this system do rowing my workstation and the machine Virtual is not very fluid. Compared to Red Hat or WIN XP that are installed the same way, and remain fairly fluid. Please help. Thanks in advance.

To do this click the new (and yes it is in English ) And then use the shortcut Ctrl + N. The wizard starts, click Next until you reach the window asking you to enter a name for your virtual machine . Do as you please , for my part it will be called Ubuntu ( it originality ) . Then select the type of system to install . In our case it is Linux 2.6 ( kernel version ) . On the next page asks you to select the memory you allocate to your system. It 's up to you knowing that this memory will be taken on your RAM . With 1GB of RAM can easily allocate 256MB of RAM or a little more.

You normally have an iso of the system to install. We'll have to tell the system that will iso CD . To do this in the " retail " located on the right click CD / DVD Rom. A new page opens with the parameters of the virtual drive . Check box mount CD / DVD drive and then the box Iso Image File. If instead you have a real CD and not an image checked the other button , select the drive letter and insert your cd.

You do start the virtual machine by pressing the Start button. The machine starts and should find your cd, the installation begins. If you go full screen just use the combination: CONTROL + F to exit. Here ends the tutorial. If you encounter difficulties installing your system please refer to the forums dedicated to them . This tutorial was to install Ubuntu but you can not install any OS worry supported by VirtualBox ( VISTA , LINUX, SOLARIS ... ).

Mespite the acquisition by Oracle Sun , VirtualBox , the hypervisor Open Source Sun acquired from Innotek German in 2008, continues its merry way. Version 3.0 beta has been released List formal release of the draft. This brings several new features : the ability to manage up to 32 virtual machines by leveraging the hardware virtualization technology Intel VT -x and AMD -V, the support for 3D Direct3D 8 and 9 on Windows virtual machines , OpenGL 2.0 virtual machines on Windows , Linux and Solaris.

The only host for VirtualBox (2 or 3) are Windows , Linux, Mac OSX and ( open ) Solaris. OS / 2 is only supported as a guest . Finally VirtualBox is not limited to invitees listed : you can virtualize * BSD (except Darwin and Mac OS X ), BeOS / Haiku , L4 , Minix , DOS / FreeDos , Netware. In OpenGL 2.0, there is a sending commands directly to the host , which should provide decent performance , whereas DirectX support is clearly supported with a Windows client and that in this case a rewriting of calls , with a loss of performance inherent in this type of operation . Note that other programs offer this kind of compatibility and the results are often pretty average . In practice , the addition of 3D is essentially present for programs that require 3D acceleration, not frag in the latest FPS fashion.
