HELP! I compressed my C drive and now it says

bootmngr compressed
press ctrl alt dlt
to restart

When I do it goes back to that message and I don't have a disk and I can't get on the internet with that laptop. Can someone tell me how to fix it in the command mode? Please Help! I am a photographer and I had pictures I hadn't gotten around to saving yet from the last wedding I did!!!

re: BOOTMGR compressed press control alt dlt to restart BUT I DON'T HAVE A DISK TO REBOOT

well you messed up the booting, so i guess you have t find another computer where you can put the HDD in and hopefully be able to rescue the pictures from C: drive.

and please NEVER EVER put any documents in the C: drive. its a really foolish thing to do and i hope you know now why.

and never compress any HDD drives/partitions. its not very useful. compress only the partition which you really dont use.

You know I got on here for help not a lecture! I'm really upset that this happened and it was by mistake. I didn't set out to screw up my computer. I thought this was a tech help board not a "mommy got something to say" board so thank you for your help. And the little laughing face i could have done without too!

Which Operating System are you using? You can try to do one thing here, at the prompt to select your OS installation, click the button that says ‘Load Drivers’. This should bring up a explorer-style drive browser. Then just right-click on the drive you tried to compress, and deselect ‘Compress this Drive’, which should still be ticked on. Hit apply, and apply to subfolders/files. Reboot.
