You can solve some problems by checking the computer errors that occur on a drive or drives . For example, you can check the primary hard drive of your computer to troubleshoot performance problems . You can also conduct checks if an external hard drive does not work correctly.
    1. Open Computer , click the button , Then Computer.
    2. Click the right mouse button on the drive to check , and then click Properties.
    3. Click on the tab Tools Then , under Error Checking, Click Check Now. You are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation , provide the password or confirmation.

To automatically fix errors related to files and folders detected by the verification procedure, select the checkbox Automatically fix file system error. If you do not select this option , the process of checking the disk makes a report without correcting the problems. To perform a complete audit of the disc , check Look for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This analysis finds and corrects errors on the physical disk drive , which may take some time. To find both errors in the file system and physical errors , select the check boxes Automatically fix file system error and Look for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

I think the RAID 0 is not a good solution for you because of two things:
    * The drive capacities are not identical therefore loss of space
    * The speed ( SATA and SATA 2) are different, therefore, loss of performance
The best is to format your second drive and attach it in one of your directories . This is what is called a " mount point ". Mount points can add access to a disk from a directory on this disc. Clearly , the original drive C : to a directory C : Documents Empty. We can using a mount point to attach the new disk in C : Documents . This means that all that is written in C: Documents will be written in the second disk and not on C.

You need to creating a mount point.
1 . Identify the empty folder to a partition or an NTFS volume for your mount point.
2 . Click the right mouse button on the partition or volume to mount, then click Change drive letter and paths .
    3. Click Add .
    4. Click Mount in the following empty NTFS folder .
5 . Type the path to an empty folder on an NTFS volume , or click Browse to locate it . After entering the path
    appropriate, click OK .

To perform this procedure , you must be logged in as Administrator or member of the Administrators .

Yo manually test your hard disk, Windows XP has a tool for error checking . We recommend you run it once a week.
1.To do this, open the Work stationThen click with right mouse button on the drive to analyze . Click Order Properties.
    2.Open tab Tools.
3.In section Error Checking, Then click on the button Check Now.
In the window Check Disk you have the choice between two scanning options :
    4. Automatically fix file system errors
This mode searches for missing clusters , the Crusaders files and files or folders invalid . If the scan detects problems, they are automatically repaired . This check takes a few minutes .
    5. Look for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This mode carefully analyze your hard drive looking for bad sectors. If the scan finds a bad sector, it tries to move the data contained in this sector to a healthy sector . This may take several hours.
