Shell (startup.nsh) ??

This is a separate problem on a different computer than the other problem I have posted about earlier.

Recently the power went out while I was on the computer (not doing anything system related).

When I started the computer back up, after booting the BIOS and right before it normally gives me the boot options menu, it said something like 'to stop startup.nsh hit the esc key, hit any other key otherwise'. No matter what I do it takes me to a Shell prompt. Shell>

I figured out that if I type in 'exit' it will continue on to the boot loader.

How do I fix this? I remote in to this computer and now I can no longer do unattended restarts.

Re: Shell (startup.nsh) ??

There are many reasons for this problem to occur, for example, your nfs disk is not mounted. You can also try to check the /etc/passwd. The entry for the shell i.e. /sbin/sh might got replaced, check the shell of the user: #grep username /etc/passwd, check the .profile in user home directory , if there is any customized script to load before you get a login prompt, check the vg00 filesystems , /var /tmp / are not full and also check if there is any error in syslog.log or dmesg.

Re: Shell (startup.nsh) ??

Thanks for the reply.
Please bear with me, I am just learning about this shell stuff.

There was a message that may help;

"EFI Shell version 1.10 [8192.1]
Current running mode 1.1.2
map: Can not find required map name.

Press escape in 5 seconds to skip startup.nsh

Is this Linux?
