Operating System not found.

Hello, I am new to this forums and am hoping that you all may be able to help me solve this issue that i have with my computer.

Now before you go and tell me to go and read other threads, let me start off by saying that i have, and if you haven't figured it out, then no they haven't helped me solve my problem, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I have a lenovo. That is all i currently know about it and it's about 2 years old. (I am no computer whizz).

What happens is when i start up my computer it shows the Lenovo start up screen, my computer then restarts automatically and well repeats till it runs out of power. This occured recently after i decided to restart my computer, so i'm assuming that it is not a hardware fault as it was working before.

Things i have tried are:
Everything in F8 (e.g safe mode etc.)
Using a windows XP installing disk, FIXMBR, FIXBOOT, CHKDSK /r
Going to the lenova "care page" also known as the bios setup utility (F1), "diagnose hardware or recover your system (F11) and "choose a temporary startup device" (F12).

To no avail nothing has worked. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

i thnk u shoud select boot from cd or dvd by choosing booting device and then install a fresh copy of os and you can also update your bios driver by downlding it from lenevo service center

Many times this problem occurs due to some conflict in the settings. Well do onething, while startup enter the settings and place the primary partition as active. In addition make sure that the MBR is copied above to the new hard disk as well. Try out these steps and do reply the results. It should work.

sorry but what exactly does this mean? and how do i check if it IS copied?

For unix or linux Operating System try the below to copy MBR from old hard drive to new hard drive:

Copy just the MBR and boot sector of a hard dirve to another hard drive image:

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb bs=512 count=2

Copy MBR only of a hard drive:

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb bs=446 count=1

otherwise you can create a file of MBR image and later you can copy back to the hard drive.

Check the hard drive names in your machine....

In your system set the conflict settings. Otherwise, Boot your system with cd or dvd. And Install any fresh copy of os and also update bios driver.
