    sad error message 0x800CCC0E

    Hi all,

I am one of those people who uses a computer daily but still knows pretty much nowt about the technical side of it. This morning when I tried to access my e mails from my desktop shortcut I keep getting this error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.waitrose.com', Server: 'mail.waitrose.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I can send e mails, & I can access them through waitrose via google. Basically I have no idea what to do!! Any suggestion??

    Thank you in advance,
    Lorraine

If you have a Norton 2004 product and this error happened after running LiveUpdate and downloading a Symantec shared Common Client program update, then the problem has been fixed. To obtain the fix, run LiveUpdate again and download and install all available program updates. For help running LiveUpdate, read How to run LiveUpdate. If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton Internet Security, read the document Cannot send or receive email with Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express after installing Norton Internet Security.

I have a mail configured on my server and I use Microsoft Outlook for that. If that is getting error on Outlook there here is a small tip for that. Run Outlook and then click on Tools > account > properties. In that click on advanced and write the number 587 instead of 25 in the outgoing mail box and click on Application.

Thanks so much for your replies - turns out it was the waitrose site having some maintenance!! So nothing I was doing wrong...which is, I'm afraid, always a possibility!!!
