If prompted for the keychain password of a computer that you no longer have access, or if you request a password keychain that you can not remember, you can reset the file password used when the main bunch of synchronization:

    • Back up all data synchronization to keep on the affected computers. You can use the Backup application MobileMe or Mac OS X as presented here .
    • Reset file password for the keychain using the advanced instruction following: from the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu;
    • Open Terminal.
    • In the Terminal window, type the appropriate command for the version of Mac OS X you are using:
    • If you use Mac OS X v10.6, type (or copy and paste) the following command on one line:
      / System / Library / Frameworks / SecurityFoundation.framework / Versions / A / kcSync.app / Contents / MacOS / kcSync-reset
    • If you use Mac OS X v10.5, type (or copy and paste) the following command on one line: / System / Library / Frameworks / SecurityFoundation.framework / Versions / A / Resources / kcSync.app / Contents / MacOS / kcSync-reset
    • Press Return.
    • When the command was executed, a message like this should appear in the Terminal window: "removing / Library / Keychains / .syncinfo / login.keychain.syncinfo.plist succeeded.
    • Quit the Terminal application.
    • Make sure that the MobileMe sync is enabled by selecting System Preferences from the Apple menu by clicking the MobileMe icon, then clicking the Sync tab.

To synchronize with a bunch of other computers, enter the password of the computer whose outfit is from. Similarly, to synchronize with a bunch of other user accounts on the original computer, other accounts must enter the password of the original account as well. When synchronizing via keychain the MobileMe sync , a prompt for the keychain password to another computer appears. Perhaps you should re-sync the keychain on any computer being synchronized after completing these steps. The ring may prompt you to update your settings in a variety of applications.

The synchronization is to update information such as phone numbers in several places so that each location has the same information. You can use MobileMe to synchronize information on your Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPod touch, and in Contacts and Calendar on me.com.
MobileMe updates the information so that you always have the latest information available on each computer or device. If you use Mac OS X 10.4 to 10.4.10,
you'll need your software to Mac OS X v10.4.11 before sync choose Apple menu, System Preferences, then click Update Software.

If you synchronize a Mac with a Windows computer, only contacts and calendars will be synchronized on both computers. For more information about Windows applications compatible with the MobileMe synchronization, see Windows in Related Topics below.
    • If you use Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5.4 or later), you can sync your Safari bookmarks, iCal, your data, contacts in your address book, your keychains (passwords), Dashboard widgets, accounts the Mail application in Mac OS X, and more on multiple Mac OS computers.
    • If you use Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later, you can use your MobileMe account to sync the information presented above, with the exception of Dashboard widgets, Dock items, preferences and notes.

    Re: MobileMe keychain disruption

The lock icon next to your keychain should appear open or unlocked (see illustration above). If your keychain is locked, select it, then click the lock icon located in the upper left corner. You will be prompted for the password to your keychain, which may correspond to that of your user account, Mac OS X. If the password for your keychain is different from that of Mac OS X (and you know these two passwords), you must change the password for your keychain to match. This allows the keyring to automatically unlock when you log on Mac OS X (or when you connect automatically at startup).
