Intel wireless card not detected

Recently i have purchased a new hp laptop installed with Ubuntu 9.04 . It came installed with an wireless card. I have not used this operating system ever before can you please tell me why Intel wireless card not detected on my laptop also suggest a suitable remedy so that i can diagnose this issue.

It may be because your wireless card may have not been installed properly. Hence i would suggest you to get the Wireless card reinstalled. Take it to the vendor or you can try at your own risk by yourself. Simply remove the wireless card once and then replace it once again. Reboot ht system.

It may be possible that your ethernet is not connected properly and hence the network manager is not detecting the connection. So i would suggest you to post the what your kernel says. use the following command for to generate the kernel files.

dmesg | grep iwl
rfkill list

Post the kernel files here so that i can know the main reason why Intel wireless card not detected

First of all i would like to know whether all your drivers are upto date or not. Have your hard disk connected to the internet in order to update the drivers. Also make sure that you have enabled the wireless within the network manager. If all the above solution did not work then it might be possible that your router may have stopped functioning properly. get it checked.

This is due to the firmware you may not have the firmware which is needed by your wireless card try to attach the ethernet and check whether it is active

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic

For an updated firmware simply use the code below:

sudo rmmod -f iwlagn
sudo modprobe iwlagn
