Problem booting ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Dimension 2400

    Hello,
I want to install a minimal linux distribution with ubuntu 9.10 on Dell 2400. Then I start with the live CD, everything works well and even the network card is recognized. Super I tell myself that I will install it. Everything goes well except that I struggled a while before I realized that I fesait my partitions on the first disk RAID5 logical drive instead of short, I will restart and then GRUB hangs. Again those problem discs. I had "Error 21". Any help regarding this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem booting ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Dimension 2400

    Hello,
Is it normal that Ubuntu see the 3 discs that are the logical drive RAID +?
Normally I like to see the logical drive, which would not all these problems, right? Well, after looking how GRUB works, I can now start on the correct partition. Now I have problem with boot linux. Here are the messages:
    Code:
Begin: Waiting for root file system Done. ALERT! / Dev/sdd5 does not exist.
So, if you guys know what exactly is this error about then please help me. Thank you for your help.

Booting problem in ubuntu 9.10 running on dell

    Hello,
Here are few tips for you
    - Is it normal that you see the physical disks sda, sdb and sdc in addition to the logical disk sdd Ubuntu? Your hardware RAID5, you should see that the logical drive, right?

    - grub works there with a RAID5 hardware? You should get to boot from it but then I sdd5 the word that does not exist.

Hope these points will help you.

    Hello,
Just continue the installation and configure the network card via the console or the GUI (IP, DNS & Co.). By cons attention, eth0 corresponds to taking Gigabit # 2, eth1 corresponds to taking Gigabit # 1 ... sometimes it serves. Are you trying to set up a server operating system on your machine. If you are going to set an server operating system then you will need to follow the above.

    Hello,
Before you start installing XP marker boot on this partition
    Code:
    / Dev/sda3 * 275 299 2008 12 + 83 Linux
Once XP is installed and functional ( ), start with a live cd
and put the marker on the / boot partition on ubuntu Start, and then
    Code:
    sudo gedit / boot / grub / menu.lst
    add to the end
    Code:
    root (hd0, x) # x = number of the XP partition-1 given by the command sudo fdisk-l
    chainloader +1
    boot
    Hope this will help you.
