unsure How to repair missing shortcuts for XP

    Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this type of communication so please bear with me. I feel silly in this setting cause I know I'm in hyperspace guruville. About 3 weeks ago I installed the Office 2007 into the XP op system of our computer. Everything looked great except my perfectionistic observation that I had now the XP shortcuts for Word, Excel, Access and new Office 07' shortcuts for the same applications.

I decided to move the XP shortcuts to the start-up menu and just have the Office shortcuts on our desktop. After sending the shortcuts to the start menu it seemed to me that I could delete the desktop shortcuts for XP.

Anyone ever do something this dumb...

I sure could use some directive on how to repair my ingenious error.

    Thanks Tech Community...
One of many conversations to come I'm sure...
    Pat S.

I am not able to understand what exactly the problem is but from the things which I understand, Microsoft office is a single time installation software which means that once an upgraded version is installed on the computer, the previous version cannot be used. I suppose that you have installed Office 2007 on the system which was installed with Office XP and hence two icons are visible.

If you have lots you short then you can restore them by two ways. First right click on the application shortcut from start menu and the click on Send To > Desktop. The other way is going in program files > folder of application and creating manual shortcuts. You can right click on start menu and click on Explore all users where you get the location of application shortcuts on the start menu.
