I am trying to restore factory settings on Toshiba A205-S5804 laptop. I am running the same by using recovery cd which is created by my friend. After a further process at the second is, I found a error message denoting 10-FC12-045D and recovery fails. Now I am stucked on the half way of recover process. What is this error about. Does the disc is damaged.

The error is related to hardware. It is possible that your entire disc or some part is damaged due to which you are getting such possible errors. You will need to arrange a new recovery disc for the same. Or else if you had not yet formatted your computer entirely then you can use 0 + power on button to run the automated system recovery from the recovery partition on your system.

Here are some similar error messages which you got right now. This will help you to troubleshoot problems more easily and get the exact cause of the error. The ERROR 10-FC10-1710 appears if the hard drive where the recovery process is performed is faulty. The recovery process does not goes further. The ERROR :10-FC12-0241 denotes a faulty drive or an bad or defective memory.

Re: Recovery disc for A205 S5804 error 10-FC12-045D

That is right. I got a error message ERROR :10-FC12-045D / 10-FC11-045D. This states that the hard drive which I am using is not proper and faulty. The recovery process fails in between by popping this error out. Anyhow I have to replace the hard drive and now whenever I run the recovery process there is no error issue at all. If your laptop is under warranty they try to show the same to nearest service center.

If you get a error message 10-FC06-0002 then it means that you are trying to restore the computer from a damaged media. Or the hard disk where the recovery files are stored is gone bad. In the same way 10-FC12-0970 means that your memory is defective. The only option for this is to get a new hard ware part relevant to that error and restore your systems.

If you face any such error then try two to three times to restore your pc. By luck if that works then you does need to do any replacement. Anyhow there is a second way. You can use Windows bootable disc to perform a fresh installation instead of running the recovery. Because this has worked under most conditions where the recovery media fails.
