Inspiron 1545 hangs after 2 hours if not operated

Hi, I have a Dell inspiron 1545 which is more than an year old and warranty has expired a few days earlier. The problem is, If I keep it un-operated for more than 2 hours, it gets hanged. Even the task manager do not get open and none of the programs respond. I have only McAfee anti-virus and also i have removed the unwanted programs from my machiine, but still the problem remains the same. Can any body help?

Before giving you the solution I want to ask a casual question like, if you are not using your computer then do you want to keep it running? Why don't you shut down ? This will improve your computer performance and life; and after all will save your electricity bill .

Anyways, regarding your problem, before you keep it in ideal mode what all processes are running (check it from Task Manager)? Is there any process which is occupying much of the RAM or CPU? Do you have your anti-virus scheduled for system scan when left ideal? What about the power settings? Is your power settings letting your hard disk to turn off when left ideal for 2 hours (this setting is by default, make sure you change it)?
