Shortcuts getting changed to default icon or disappears in Windows 7

Hello. I have a desktop machine and it is been installed with Windows 7 operating system. The problem is that the shortcuts of the desktop is been changed to default icon or gets completely disappear. I have no idea why is this happening? Please help me out so that I can get a issue to make the things to work out well. Thank you.

The problem may be related to the issue that the system may be affected by a virus and hence this is the reason that the application or the shortcuts get changed to default icon. You can make the issue to be sorted by looking out for the issue or the same under the previous version of the software.

• Right click on the folder and then click on properties tab.
• You will get a dialog box on that check out for Previous version tab
• Click on the version of file and then set the point to restore.
• Click Yes if any warning message appears

Try to boot the system in safe mode option. This would then help in making the issue to get sorted. As safe mode option do not have the features embedded to make the thing to work out.
