Unable to create restore points in vista

I can not create the restore point for my Windows Vista Operating System. I followed the actual procedure from the manual of creating restore point in vista but get failed to create . The procedure occurs following error message :

Shadow Copying the specified volume is not supported.(0×8004230C)

Can you Please help me out from this error.

Are you sure, you followed the same procedure to create the restore point.There are so many users interacted with this error just because of the procedure mistakes.

Try to create once more with the proper procedure and one thing more " Are you running as administrator of system or as a normal user, If you are running as a normal user then you should switch into administration account.

Commonly, In Windows Vista, this type of error message may pop-up during System Restore, It can be occurred in both types of procedures as manually creation of restore points or during application and drive installation.

The error occurred causes the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service has been stopped or disabled.

In Windows Vista, During System Restore you can be interacted with the following error:

“Can’t create system restore point. Shadow Copying the specified volumn is not supported. (0×8004230C) Please try again”.

This problem can be occurred in other windows version Windows Server 2003 during Symantec Backup Exec. In this situation, the error message could be slightly different from Vista:

To resolve such type of issue you need to be sure that Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider Service (SWPRV) and the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) services are activated. Here is the procedure to activate them.

1. Click on Start menu.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Choose System and Maintenance and then after Administrative Tools.
4. Double click on Services.
5. Search Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider and Volume Shadow Copy.
