No recording mixer found in Windows 7

My cousin installed Windows 7 for experimental purpose on my computer and now I am in trouble finding Windows Recording Mixer on this OS. I was using Windows XP initially and was knowing where was it but don't know anything about Windows 7. I got some error but I didn't remember what was it. Can you help me where to find Windows Recording Mixer in Windows?

I think there is no option of recording mixer in Windows 7 but you can try this:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Sounds > Recording tab.
    2. Right click on a blank area and make sure you have "Show disabled options" checkbox selected.
    3. This activates the Recording Mixer

Basically Windows recording mixer was designed for Windows xp and so either it won't work or you will not find it anywhere in the computer. You may even find errors like "Cannot find the mixer program" or something similar. However you can try the above option just to confirm if it works.

In Windows 7, there is no recording mixer. However you can get a Windows 7 driver for you sound card. Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray. Select recording devices. You will be on the Recording tab. Right-click in the white are and make sure Show disabled devices is selected. With Windows 7 you can only set the recording level of one input at a time.

If you're talking about mixers, better go for plugins with the recording software you're using. Or look for a free sound mixer for Windows 7. Or try double clicking the speaker icon and the mixer should come up. But if you are searching for the main windows volume control only, the volume control should have an option to select an input device.
