    for resolving the Print spool error of the HP Laserjet 1020 printer in the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, i will recommend you to first uninstall the driver and other software of the printer from the desktop properly and again install them on the desktop. This will most probably resolve this print spool error of the HP Laserjet 1020 printer in Windows 7 operating system.

    Re: Print spool error in Windows 7 with the HP Laserjet 1020 printer

    You have mentioned in your query that this HP Laserjet 1020 printer was working properly in the Windows 7 operating system properly without the Print spool error in the system. So i think the system restore of the Windows 7 operating system desktop can fix this issue of the printer. So restore the system setting on the date on which the printer was working with the Windows 7 operating system properly.

    I think the print spooler service is not running of the Windows 7 operating system that is why the printer is not getting detected when you are connecting it to the desktop.
    For starting the print spooler service fololw the steps given below.
    1.start ->Run ->enter services.msc and press OK.
    2.Go to the 'Printer Spooler service' -> select it by double click ->select startup type to Automatic.
    3.Go to the the C:\Windows\System32\spool\printers folder and Delete all the contents from there.
    4.Reboot the system and install the printer again.

    It may be possible that the printer will not start in the first attempts so you have to execute the above steps many times. If then also the printer is not starting then try this method to resolve the print spool error of the Windows 7 operating system in your desktop.
    Open command prompt->Type the code given below.
    net stop spooler
    del /Q /F /S "%systemroot%\System32\Spool\Printers\*.*"
    net start spooler
