Computer is turning itself on in Windows 7

I am using a Compaq desktop and having a problem recently after the upgradation of the operating system from Windows Vista to Windows 7. The problem happens at night after the system has been completely shut down. The situation is that computer is turning itself on in Windows 7. From a couple of days, when I go to start the system, I see that the monitor is showing me the login screen.

If the computer is turning itself on in Windows 7, then you must check the task scheduler about what is causing such problems. For this, you will have to do as follows:
  1. Go to Start.
  2. Then, you will have to click on Search.
  3. Now, type TASK there.
  4. The Task Scheduler will be shown after that.
  5. Here, you can stop or reschedule any tasks.
This will help you to solve the problems that you are facing.

Many users are facing this problem of computer is turning itself on in Windows 7. There is a simple solution for the same. You will have to go to POWER MANAGEMENT and after that go to BIOS. There, you will be able to see an event called PME Event. You will have to check if this event is enabled as this may be the reason why the system is starting by itself. You will have to set it to resume by alarm.

Hello there, the problem that the computer is turning itself on in Windows 7 is not an issue that the operating system is having. The device manager is the only option that can solve this issue. After starting device manager, go to the properties of mouse, keyboard, and network card. In there, you will have to disallow all the options that is making the system to start by itself.

I had the same issue that the computer is turning itself on in Windows 7. In my case, the problem was with the Media Center Update. I just did the following steps to get rid of the same:
  • Start Task Scheduler Library as shown in one of the above posts.
  • There, go to Microsoft.
  • After that click on Windows
  • Here, click on Media Center
  • Here, I found the task called mcupdate_scheduled, that was causing the system to wake up. You will have to adjust the properties of the same.
