    How to install Google desktop on Linux

    Hello friends i am using the Linux OS for now. As i was using the Windows 7 Operating system i became addicted to the Google desktop application so i would like to know whether it is possible to use the Google desktop application on the linux Operating system. If yes then please tell me how can i install Google Desktop on Linux

    As far as i know the Google Desktop application is platform independent that is you can run it on any of the operating system like windows or Linux etc. The Google desktop will allow you to search files and all other stuffs including the email, and recently viewed webpages you simply had to download it from the link http://desktop.google.com/linux/ according to the package may be an rpm or deb.

    The Google desktop application can be installed on any operating system like the windows or the Linux it is a very good application to handle your desktop items searching items on your system as well as on the google download the appropriate one according to the package you are using.     Thanks for the reply i got a sigh of relief since the Google Desktop is application compatible with the Linux environment i think that you two did not read the question properly since you both answered only one part of my question. I had also asked you about the installation packages please tell me the installation procedure as soon as possible.

    To install the Google Desktop Application program on your system you simply need to download the appropriate package type on your system and then follow the steps which i have mentioned below if you are using the rpm Packages

    * Open a Terminal
    * Then try to switch to root previlege you can also use the sudo command to run this application.
    code should be some what like this
    rpm -U google-desktop-linux-1.X.X.XXXX.rpm

    As i am using the debian packages on my linux system i only know how to install the Google Desktop application for the Debian
    • Open a terminal.
    • then simply switch to the root previlege
    • If you can use the sudo command as i have mentioned below

    "dpkg -i google-desktop-linux_1.X.X.XXXX_i386.deb"
