Remember, root password is often the key to the Kingdom of Linux. So why should we allow root password so easy to crack it? To protect your user password robustness is essential. If you have a longer password, which is difficult to remember, then you can store this password in an encrypted location. When you need the password can be used to unravel the password to decrypt the software used.

In a machine is a dedicated server, you might think to install X, so a number of management tasks will be simpler. However, this does not mean that users will need to boot into X. Such a server would be a waste of valuable memory and CPU resources. On the contrary, you should stop at level 3 on the boot process, enter the command line mode. This will not only leave the server all the resources, but also to prevent the disclosure of confidential machine. To log in to X, users only need to command line login and then type start to enter to the desktop.

There is no backup of the key configuration files

Many administrators have this kind of experience, upgrade to a X version, such as the X11 later, they found that the new version of the destruction of your xorg.conf configuration file, so that you can no longer use the X? Suggest that you upgrade X before the first on the previous / etc/x11/xorg.conf to make a backup, so as not to upgrade to fail. Of course, X will try the upgrade process for the user backup xorg.conf file, but it in the / etc/x11 directory backup. Even if such a backup looks good, you better make a backup of your bar. The author of a habit is to back up to the / root directory, so that users can know that only the root (root) users to access this file. Remember, safety first. Here method is also applicable to other key backup, such as Samba, Apache, Mysql and so on.

    The root user logged on

This is a very dangerous mistake. If a user needs root privileges to execute or configure an application in a standard user account to use to switch to root user. Log in to root Why not a good thing? The user to standard user logged in, all running X applications still have a limited to a user's access rights. If a user with root user logged on, X will have root permission. This can lead to two problems, one, if the user from the GUI made a big mistake, the error on the system, there are likely to be a huge disaster.
