Installing Ubuntu 9.10 on 32 bit

When I insert the disk and the ubuntu menu comes up, I select Install Inbutu. IT then freezes for 10 minutes and says error reading disk. It has happened every time.

System:
Sony Vaio PCG-K23
Pentium 4
32 bit Architecture
Windows XP Home OS Installed

ubuntu 9.10 has many bugs, previous version 9.04 was running very well. my laptop is travelmate 290. screen blank, and it seems the program can not go further after booting. i decide to re-install 9.04 back. any body knows why 9.10 seems not compatible with my acer 290?

Same. I guess I shall install 9.04 and maybe try installing 9.10 on top of that?

You are having the Sony Vaio PCG-K23 which has the pentium 4 processor and you want to install the Ubuntu 9.10 operating system in this. But you are not able to install this operating system in this because the error which you are getting is that the system gets freezed and after some time the error shows that "error reading disk". So there can be two resons for getting this problem. The first is the operating system disc is not proper and the second possibility is the the DVD Rom of your system is not able to read the Disc properly. So check for these two errors. You can check the Ubuntu operating system disc in some other computer systems.
