Copy my DVD MAC setup on my USB key

    Hello everyone,

I just bought an 8GB USB key and I'd like to copy the contents of my dvd of Leopard on this key to use it now when reinstalling the system.

I found some guides but they only speak of .Dmg gold me what I is 3 icons, one of the CD "Install Mac OS X, and two directories: Instructions and Optional Installs.

Could you please tell me how?

    Thank you in advance

    .dmg is a "disk image"

You can create one using Disk Utility for example. You'll put the contents of the DVD after Leopard guides that you found, you can copy the image onto your USB key.

Hello and thank you for your answers!

    I try two things:

1 - Formatting my USB HFS + with a GUID partition scheme, then I put the planks of the dvd files.
Result: the boot is when I press Alt it detects nothing.

2-I create an image .Dmg files to DVD then I restore the image on the key formatted as HFS + but still without GUID.
    Result: nothing to detect such

3 - Same as the two with GUID scheme.

I do not understand, as if something was missing to identify the key at boot:/ You have to press Alt and not on T or C for specific types of non-boot?

That there was no chance that it works, since the boot files are hidden (in the Finder) ...Guard the GUID partition scheme and partition formatted HFS + for sure it's good.

Make sure that permissions are enabled ( "Command i" on the key in the Finder)

Then try a restore directly from the DVD to your stick. Finally, depending on your Mac, check that there has not updated the EFI is to do (Apple menu> Update). In fact, what is it like Mac?

If after all this the key is not proposed as a startup volume when you press "alt" is that the EFI does not like USB

    Good evening,

Question I have not update I am without 10.5.5 Update remaining.

What permission should there be and their attributes? (R/W)
