If none it was impossible to install Bootcamp on a MacBook Air without the famous Apple external SuperDrive is now possible through the utility WinClone For this you need a Intel Mac with an optical drive (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro or Mac mini, a MacBook Air, a USB key or external USB hard drive(connect to the MacBook Air), CD installation of Windows (XP or Vista) and a Free software WinClone. Just run the software and follow the screen wizard.

Before starting, it is advisable to make a full backup with time machine with the Mac optical drive and the MacBook Air. In case of problem with the formatting, all data can be lost. The first step is to install BootCamp on Mac with an optical drive. So just launch Boot Camp Assistant and create a partition. Then you insert the installation CD of Windows and run Setup. The computer restarts and the installation begins. Format the BootCamp partition to FAT32 or NTFS, the two formats are supported by the software WinClone. Once you arrive on the Windows desktop, do nothing. Indeed, it is important not to activate your Windows if it is incompatible with the MacBook Air. Shut down and restart the Mac in Mac OS X by pressing the "Alt".

First duplicate the partition using the software WinClone. Download the software and pull it into your application or submission folder. At first launch, it will ask you to install an add. Then run the WinClone, choose the BootCamp partition and click the image button to save a disk image. For information in sequence, the image of a BootCamp partition of 25 GB with Windows XP freshly installed weighs only 900 MB.

The image that will be generated by the software is of only 900 MB and is therefore easily on a USB key, but the original partition was 26 GB Copy the image to a external storage device. Once you got the picture, it will just copy it on a USB key or external hard drive to restore it on the MacBook Air. It will just restore the partition on the MacBook Air. Open Winclone, select the Restore and then the image of your partition previously created, select the Bootcamp partition you just created on the MacBook Air, then click Restore.

Before you restore the partition, you must first generate it. Start the wizard and generate a BootCamp partition if possible the same size (the restoration of an image of different size did not seem a problem, but you never know). Then click exit and install the latest. Windows drivers for the MacBook Air are located on the installation CD for Mac OS X comes with the Mac. But to get this, it must necessarily be under Windows. In order to extract several solutions available to you like Use a PC with an optical drive, Use BootCamp partition installed on the Mac with optical drive or by using a Mac with virtualization software like Parallels or WM Ware Fusion.
