Firewall support on MAC operating system

    Hi,
Does it is necessary for me to to enable my firewall in MAC. I play online game and this firewall service usually blocks them. That creates a issue. I am not aware of what benefits and services does a MAC firewall provides. what are the different solutions available for this on the other version of operating system too. And does it is necessary to enable the firewall in MAC system.

To protect your computer from any intrusion from Hackers malicious and all rogues who give their heart on the Internet, you must obtain a firewall which will ensure effective protection. A firewall is a system to protect your computer or network from outside intrusion. It therefore acts as a filter to allow or not such and such connections to external hosts, servers etc.

Any software using Internet like e-mail program, browser, FTP, chat software, etc requires that your Mac connects effect on servers for remote to retrieve information, to ensure communication between your computer and the remote machines. A computer without a firewall is like a house with all doors and windows open. In other words, your house is wide open and anyone can enter without you even realizing it.

Fortunately MAC OS X includes an internal firewall. While Tiger has a much advance one. While Leopard 10.5, has its approach to security offered protection either by opening / closing of ports, but Authorization / Prohibition applications supposed to make things easier. The firewall runs on the same principle as SNOW LEOPARD 10.6, although it has been changed in the way of setting compared to Leopard 10.5, which is not bound to confuse even more users who would use.

Indeed, it is clear that the window settings of firewall SNOW LEOPARD is really not clear at all and only offers little explanation. The firewall SNOW LEOPARD course works in conjunction with the panel Sharing. The services enabled under Sharing appear in the list of the firewall. To prevent incoming connections with one of these services, you must disable the service concerned in the panel Sharing.

For those user which need much advance work on firewall this work becomes more tedious. If you prefer to self-manage the opening and closing ports, things become much more complicated with the firewall. By default, the firewall internal SNOW LEOPARD is not activated. If this is your case, then do not enable the firewall internal SNOW LEOPARD because it would duplicate and may even disrupt the functioning of your Mac on the Internet. Leave the property disabled. Set just as you want, the firewall of your router / Box.
