To resolve this problem, You need to remove the download directory and then visit the update locations again. Do the following steps:
    # Click Start and clicks Run then type services.msc, and then click OK.
    # Then right-click the Automatic Updates service, and then click Stop.
    # Minimize the Services snap-in.

    Best of luck.

After the above step, if the problem is not solved, just rename SoftwareDistribution directory by this way:
    # Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    # Type cd %windir%, and then press ENTER.
    # Type ren SoftwareDistribution SDTemp, and then press enter.
    # Type exit, and then press enter.

    Best of luck.

After all the steps follow as above you need to also start the Automatic Updates service. Follow the steps for update the windows:
    # Go to windows my computer and Right-click on properties.
    # Find the Automatic Updates service, and then click Start.
You can also visit the Windows Update Web site, the Microsoft Update Web site, or the WSUS server, and then download an update. Best of luck.

I also found this error last week and resolved through Microsoft update. Follow the steps:
    # Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    # On the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click Review your update history. A window opens that show all the updates that have been install or that have unsuccessful to install on the computer.
    # you can find in the in the Status column of this window, place the update that failed to install, and then click the red X.
    # Then a new window opens that displays the installation error code.
    # You will have to paste the error number in a search box an find the best solution.
