You can't run 64bit apps on a 32bit system, you can do it the other way round, 32 bit apps on 64.... And you will need 64 bit drivers when running a 64 bit Version of Windows. However 64 is not yet that much faster, I would only recommend it if you have 4GB of RAM or more.
