Decompressor for ubuntu?

Hello everyone,

it happens many times that when i try to unzip a zip file with ubuntu, it doesn't allows me to unzip. indeed can not remember if it ever allowed me. Can you guys recommend me a good Decompressor for ubuntu? if yes then please let me know, and thanks a lot in advance.

sudo apt-get install unrar

for the non-free version. To find out yourself you could have done

apt-cache search unrar

If you have not installed, install it (not the unrar-free).

this is what has left me in the terminal when I put it:

ivan@i-desktop:~$ aptitude search unrar
p libclamunrar6 - anti-virus utility for Unix - unrar suppor
p unrar - Unarchiver for .rar files (non-free versio
p unrar-free - Unarchiver for .rar files
ivan@i-desktop:~$

I do not have installed anything right?

when I put in the package manager does not come out that line.

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install unrar

to unrar a rar package, cmd line:

unrar e thispackagetounrar.rar

If doesn't works then, following will search and show you related available packages:

p unrar-free - Unarchiver for .rar files
