I had faced the similar problems with my system before. I clearly don't remember what was the error code but it has something to do with backup so i used a new disc and it started working. I am not very much certain that the older hard disk is working or damaged. If nothing has worked for you try this it might solve your problem.

It is quiet difficult to predict a solution to this problem since you have not provided enough information about this problem please send me some more details regarding this problem so that i can help you in this matter. Do one thing Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Asr, create a new key called LogFileSetting post this error file and i will try to solve this issue.

I think that you are facing this problem because of the user rights. So if you login as an administrator or as a user without these restrictions the backup should carry on without any problem. If this does not solve the issue then i will recommend you to scan your system with an antivirus and remove all the detected threats. after doing so you can backup your system.

As you all suggested i followed the suggestions i tried to take the backup on DVD but i was unable to achieve it. Finally i logged in to the system as the system administrator and then then i was able to backup my system files. That's why i need to know what are the user rights needed to take the backup and also mention the group policies.

It sounds as the user has not taken the ownership of the file so i think you must follow the steps which i have mentioned below to take the ownership of the files or objects:
Go to Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -->
Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment -> Take ownership of files or otherObjects. And the rest will be done.
