To fix, you must purge the catalog Windows Update as follows:
    1. Make Start / RunSeize cmd then OK.
    2. In the command window, type:
net stop wuauserv then press Enter. This command stops the service Automatic Updates.
You should see the following lines appear:

      The service Automatic Updates stops.
Service Automatic Updates has been arrested.
    3. Then enter the following command:
      ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftDist.old then Enter.
    4. which will result in renaming the catalog. A new catalog will be recreated by Windows Update.
    5. Finally restart the service by typing:
      net start wuauserv then Enter.
    6. You should see:
      The service Automatic Updates starts.
      The service Automatic Updates started.

The history of updates will be lost but you can again use Windows Update.

This manip can also resolve errors 0x8024001D, 0x80070002, 0x80070003, 0x80246005.
