Moving from XP Pro to Windows7 is worth doing

From the last few days i am thinking to move from XP pro to windows 7. I have used xp for almost five years and till now my system runs well. I have been reading other various posts and forums that most of the people address the level of difficulty which is involved in swithching between xp pro and windows 7 and also from vista to windows 7. What is the difference between using windows 7, will it make pictures and graphics better than xp and will it be useful for communicating with other pc's or devices or is there any softwares which will on windows 7 and not on xp.

Switching between xp pro and windows is worth it.

Before i was using xp pro but after hearing the news about w7 i installed windows 7 on my system. Now my system is as solid as xp pro was, including my games and other old games and all software. It loads programs faster than xp pro. The fonts and graphics are improved and no problem with external usb devices.
If you are planning to upgrade you hardware than i would consider win 7at that point.

I also did the same as MrChris- did. I skipped from Vista and went to XPPro and then to W7 beta. I was having only one program that was not running in W7. But i installed the free "XP virtual machine" for the program which was not running and now everything is fine.
I was not having any issues at all with XP, the OS was stable and there where very few minor issues, I am happy with W7.

I am on the Windows 7 Beta, there are pretty cool tools. The tool helps to collect your data and puts them in a blob, as it seemed that my desktop and IE things also. I still have to install all my applications again, and most of my game settings where moved, but i'll say it wasn't bad at all. A option is available that is known as "Windows Easy Transfer", which helped me to move all my files to move from one system to another and it worked.

Through my opinion xp was great and I have not suffered any issues with it. About Vista it looked nice but from my side it was slower. Windows 7 is also good, i like many of the features which was better than vista but not whole part and beside this those who have old pc's and cannot upgrade, this OSs are like any components some people they like amd some like intel and some like a i7.
I use vista because it came with my laptop and i am satisfied with it and i dont think to upgrade it with windows 7.
The conclusion is use what works and what you like.

According to me we have to use 32bit Vista / 7

The thing is that its all simple facts:

Windows XP is faster in some tests then windows 7, But it is not faster overall. As mentioned that OpenGL will work slower, what is the intresting part is that OpenGL tests is the differences between Vista and windows 7.
Windows 7 looks pretty cool and but its not the reason to buy it, but it is true that your XP runs faster if you disable the new look of GUI and run it in Windows 98 style.
For me windows xp is still the best operating system.

On an average windows 7 is equal and faster than XP, it looks better doing it and is more secure and stable. Now it depends upon you what to choose.

Windows 7 is definitely worth it - both in performance and stability.
Switching to it is indeed difficult - but there are third-party tools that help doing that. I used Zinstall XP7 when I had to upgrade.
