Problem in installing Ubuntu getting error message like “BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu7) Built-in shell”

Hi,

I'm quite new to Linux, so for that i don't have much knowledge about it. i trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 for desktop. But whenever I boot the disk and select “start or install Ubuntu” it comes up with message-

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu7) Built-in shell
Enter ‘help’ for a list of built-in commands.

can anyone tell me what does this mean? i change my boot option i change Upbuntu steup copy but still i get this error. where should I go from here? help me.

Do you get a Grub prompt or a grub menu?
Try following things
First things you have to Navigate the GRUB prompt during the starting dual boot.
then start the Ultimate Edition OS
press the E button (it's for Edit)
Then Highlight the second line
again press the E button
Take out the quiet splash
then type in all_generic_ide

Then press "Return" and then press b-key form your keyboard. it will help you to executes a reboot, with the edited or modified information in the line (described above).
after that you have to enter your passcode and you should see the desktop.

For solving this problem you have to troubleshoot a bit here.
first thing is you have to use a live CD of Ubuntu 7.10.
after that open DOS prompt, and type
c:\windows
then type "win" using this the OS would splash its image & boot
here are many builds for this "Debian 1:1.1.3" or the BusyBox application this is was needed to your computer.
this will help you get the desktop display up.
1) add your ubuntu system information with space
2) then add second information
3) after this process you get the positive help

Try following things
Boot system using LiveCD
after boot screen Select F6 it's for getting more option.

Add the following in options list:
break=top
then press Enter then system will start boot
then Ubuntu will start booting,
then you will see Command Prompt and then type following commands
modprobe piix
exit
this will help you to solve your problem

this message you get when your boot partition is less then 50 mb that time you get the error at grub setup
after the installation complete do not reboot -- stay in the LiveCD
then open Applications then click on Accessories then open Terminal

then typing the following
'/dev/hda1' with the install partition commands:
then type following commands
mkdir target
sudo mount /dev/hda1 target

if you had a boot partition issue then use following commands
sudo mount /dev/hda2 target/boot
sudo chroot target

after that you will enter in "CHOORT" command prompt its for your new ubuntu system
then you have to edit the /etc/initramfs-tools/modules file
in that you have to adding a line using "piix" command
for that type following commands
echo piix >> /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
after that you have to update the system using the command
update-initramfs -u
after completing this type "exit" it will help to take out of from "chroot"
after that restart the system
after booting you will be in Ubuntu system!
