Windows 7 Crashing/Freeze

Ive downloaded windows 7 ultimate and been burning it to cd and installing it on my pc and ive been getting the same problem crashing during install when it gets to "completing installation" or randomly crashing when the os is 1+ minutes after startup.

I thought this was just the downloaded dodgy versions not working, but i was puzzled because all the comments on the torrent link were saying it worked perfectly

I want dx11 for a new game im going to play so i decided to buy windows 7 home retail thinking it would work but i have the same problem. It kept crashing on "completing installation" when i was installing it on my western digital 74gb 10000rpm. Then i tried it on my western digital 7200rpm 150gb and it completed the install but first froze when i was entering the product key. And thereafter randomly gradually getting worse with less and less time in windows. I think it was just "luck" that it completed the installation this time as before sometimes i was able to fully install the downloaded ultimate maybe 1/3 attempts.

Ive tried both the 32bit and 64bit operating systems and the same problem occurred.

- So it must be my hardware somewhere
- It only does it on windows 7 all other operating systems are flawless without problem
- Ive searched on google and the only plausible thing ive found it could be is "lack of power". Then i spoke to a friend and he said that vista uses more power than windows 7. is he correct? vista 64bit works fine on my pc(i think if my memory serves me correct, only had it on about a week or 2 ago and it was fine but i might be mistaken)
- Upgrading my psu would fix that? is the only thing i can think of what it would be, but im no professional.

my comp
- intel core 2 duo e6600 2.4ghz with akasa cpu fan. It's EM64T positive.
- nvidia 8800gts 640mb
- 4gb ram
- antec truepower 550w psu (bought 1-2 years ago it was the high end of the market at the time)
- soundblaster augidy 2 zs
- killer xeno pro nic
- optiarc DVD-rw
- western digital raptor 10000rpm 74gb
- western digital caviar 7200rpm 150gb

Anyone help please?

Re: Windows 7 Crashing/Freeze

Windows 7 Crash or freeze, if you don't shut down the properly or if there is a any hardware problem. To solve this issue, Go to Control Panel, Click on System and Security, Under Administrative Tools, Select Schedule Tasks, In the Active Tasks panel, I have a task called "RacTask" scheduled to run 1 hour after the power on. If you still have a problem then see the below threads :

Hello Unreal,
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.

Re: Windows 7 Crashing/Freeze

Hello friend, you just make Clean installation of RC version of win7 i think it will resolve your problem. And upgrade it from beta to RC is supported but not recommended by Microsoft.
