Having 4GB of RAM and installed two operating systems- Windows Vista and Linux .You are getting your RAM only 3GB and 1GB of your RAM is lost but its not like that you can save your RAM at second operating system installation. After Installation of Two operating system your computer divides into two segments ,first one is for windows and second one is for Linux. RAM is separately divided to both and get reserved. Now you are going to install Linux after windows installation, then Linux automatically performs a calculation of full RAM space and reserves that space ,you can edit that space at the time of installation. After installation you can't do any manipulation of RAM space. That's why when you open the properties of my computer it show only 3GB of RAM and 1GB is already occupied by Linux. And if you are going for another installation then RAM would be allocated from 3GB RAM space. |

If you want to use second operating on your PC as a application software and uninstall whenever you want. You have to do a little bit thing for it. A concept of virtual machine comes into mind. The first operating system is treated as Host and second one is Guest .suppose windows is already installed and Linux would install later then windows would be host and Linux would be guest. To do this you have follow these instructions : 1. Download the VM-ware software from the internet according to the host operating system. 2. Install it easily on your host machine and open the icon of "Vmware station" from your desktop . 3. Create a new virtual machine and locate the boot disk . And whenever you want to uninstall it , right click on the desired virtual machine and choose "Delete from disk" . |

| Re: RAM configuration of single PC with more than one Operating System Sharing Files Between Two Operating System If your system is running with two operating systems and you want to share some files of one another, it's impossible but In the case ,if you are using second operating system as a virtual machine then you can do it. please follow these instructions: Edit your virtual machine and go to the option tab and locate the file of the host machine which you want to share and make it enable by check option. Mount your shared folder and file on guest operating system and use it. |
