Hi, I am using hcl laptop installed with Linux operating system. However the system is wonderful but the a common problem with Linux as compared with windows operating system, that is boot problem. If we press standby button and then we have to wait long for using the Linux operating system. I am fed up with this waiting, can any one tell me how to solve this problem.

It is depend upon you that how you are using your system, there is no need for using to many services. If you are using only laptop machine. Then, there is no need for sendmail, httpd and many different services. Otherwise you are using only a web server, so you can close the many of different services. To use this tip, just you have to go the Administration menu and see in the Services entry. And then you only have to do that deselect the services which you dont have to start or there is no need.

I only plug smaller footprint window managers, so this tremendously reduce the boot of the graphical interface. If you have you have to wait long up to 30 - 60 seconds for GNOME or KDE for booting up the Linux operating system why don't you wait for 2 - 10 seconds for Enlightenment or XFCE to start up. This not only help you to save time for booting up Linux It will save your memory area space and the problem of with the help of bloat.

If you are loading the heavy weight Fedura, so you can try a Gentoo, Arch, or Puppy Linux. This takes take less time to boot for the smaller distribution are more faster than bloated Fedora and Ubuntu. If you are using larger distribution which helps to boot fast with OpenSuSE, but I never tried this method. If you are differentiating between Fedora and Ubuntu, than Ubunto boots much faster than fedora's .

If you know are expert in upgrading your computers firmware, you may consider to change to open source BIOS. If caveat are using an open firmware that provide a Linux to which start the hardware when it is start and in it is not relay on the BIOS. Ans the above of all, there are many open BIOSes which can be easily set to get your system actually needs. If you are not selecting a open BOIS route, you can minimum set your BIOS to never make search for floppy drive which is not present and it directly boot from the first hard drive.

You can plug in a new devices with the help of Hot plug system and immediately you can use it. As you know that your computer server will not need this system and make it deleting. This will in minimizing the boot time. Hot plugging eats more of the booting time an many of the system. Deleting hot plug may change and its based on the distribution using by you.
