| How to Restore a Missing Personal User Folder in Vista!!
I am using the Windows Vista as my operating system. Is there any way to restore a user folder if it has been deleted?? I was having very important document kept in My Documents. It suddenly got missed. I don't know the reason. I am also sure that I have not deleted that document. In case if somebody has deleted or if it is missing, any way to restore that document? Please help as soon as possible.. ![]()

You can Restore a Missing Folder in Windows Vista by using the Shell Command. You can use the shell command as follows : 1. Open the Start menu. Type the shell command for the missing Personal User folder in Start Search Area and press Enter. 2. Doing this, it should open the missing personal user folder from it's current location and should be replaced it in the Start menu. You will have to check that the Personal User Folder whether it has came to the Start Menu. Also check the location C:\Users\(user-name). If its not showing then try to restart your system. |

Try these steps to Restore a Missing User Folder : 1. Right click on the user folder that you want to restore the default location for and click on the Properties. You can do this from the location C:\Users\user name 2. You will see the Location tab in it. Click on the Location tab. 3. Then click on the Restore Default button and press on OK. 4. If you get the message that the folder is not existing Do you want to create it now. Then click on Yes. Then it will restore a missing folder to the default location. |

I think this is the simple way to Restore a Missing Personal User Folder in Vista. 1. First open the Start menu. 2. Type regedit in the Run box after pressing the Start button and click OK. 3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders 4. To the right side see if the missing personal user folder has the default %USERPROFILE% location. 5. Right click on the personal user folder that is missing and click on Modify. 6. Then type in default location of the missing user folder, then click OK. 7. Lastly close regedit. 8. Restart the computer to restore the folder. You are done with the Restoring a Missing Personal User Folder. |
