Windows 7 RC backup error 0x80070002

I am running the Windows 7 RC 64 bit on my system. I am attempting to perform a backup of my system to an external Western Digital USB 1 TB drive and am getting errors all the time. Whenever i try to backup my c drive, it encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Virtual Machines. Error: (The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)). Can any one tell me that why i'm getting Windows 7 RC backup error 0x80070002? Does any body knows about it? Kindly help me to resolve the above issue. Thanks.

You may want to run a CheckDisk or your favorite hard drive checker. You can run CheckDisk by going to Start, right click the drive, choose Properties, go to the Tools tab and click Check Now. The update is that we were able to reproduce the problem when we installed certain third party software. We are investigating on the issue and will get back to you with the results. Please try turning off your Antivirus and other compression software before you run backup.

Did you install Windows Vista and Windows 7 RC compatible Virtual PC or Windows XP Mode beta? After you install Virtual PC beta, the Virtual Machines folder should be in C:\Users\. This error indicates that you do not have enough space on the drive that Windows is installed on (your boot volume, most probably, C drive). All the backup log files are *.etl files, but not *.log files. What is the situation in your folder C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsBackup?Can you check if that is the case? We require at least 400MB of free space on the boot volume in order to temporarily create the backup zip file before copying it to the target.

Check that the cables are securely connected and that the external drive has sufficient power. If you are worried about data loss, you should be able to back up those files manually or at the very least, all of your documents and personal files, movies, etc. Maybe after special tasks, Virtual PC will create the file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Virtual Machines. As the backup still completes without any issues, it should not be a critical process during backup.
