Windows 7 Virtual PC KB958559 RTM installation failed

    Hi,

Since many days I am facing problem with installing KB958559 in Win 7 RTM. I getting event log, "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070005: Update for Windows (KB958559)." I am unable to go C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, I am the administrator, although then I don't have permissions to access the folder. Why it is happening ??

Firstly ensure that any Spy Sweeper or firewall programs that are running are not interfering with Windows Update. Although it may have had a Spy Sweeper-firewall accelerator running for some time without any previous problems accessing Windows Update, updates to new versions of these programs can create unforeseen problems. For your convenience, I have listed some of the most common applications that can cause conflicts with Windows Update.

You can dial-a-fix download. Then you can try to restore the license to make a Secedit. Click Tools and then scroll down and select reset permission, it will automatically and once the step is completed, restart the computer and then install. You can we check in registry if there is an restricted user account created you can remove it manually

The Virtual PC Windows7 requires integrated in the CPU VT technology enabled in the BIOS of the host machine. If you do not have the necessary hardware, then it can be installed. Your only option here is to install Virtual PC 2007, which works, although it is not "compatible". Supported in this context means that if you are eligible to phone Microsoft for help in the system or not.
