Different icon for share folder is missing in windows 7

I have noticed that different icon for share folder missing in windows 7. Is there any way to get them back. Sharing for folder is enable but it won't change the icon for that, appearance remain the same as the look of a standard folder. Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

First, to create your own icon , use the free tool IconFX... You can even convert a image to icon, capture icons of other files etc, IcoFX allows users to create custom icons using a variety of tools.... Once you make your custom icon, save it... Go to your shared folder, right click and go to properties.. There go to customize... Go to change icon and set the icon as your custom icon....

To get back missing shared folder icon in Windows 7 you need change install software which allow user to add there own icon to the folder. Folder Marker is for your convenience and comfort in any kind of computer work. Use Folder Marker to mark your folders. One mouse-click and it becomes clear at once which documents have a high priority, and which of them have a normal or low priority.

You can't change the icons that are displayed for folders in the Console. . Right-click documents or folder which you want to share in network with other folder > Click the drop down > Select Everyone > Click Add > Click Read and change it to read/write > Click Share > Select My Documents Click Next > Sharing your documents may take awhile depending on how many have > Click Done.

The problem that your sharing folder icon is not been distinguished or you are not able to view them as the same is due to the operating system. Windows 7 has features of overlay module which removes the problem of various kinds of shell extraction system files which leads to bulk process and makes the system to slow down a bit. Windows 7 is built with a purpose of speedy access and faster response. It has been used as a similar way to which you access normal folders.

As you are saying that the sharing folder do not have different icon to display this is because the windows may not have been shut down properly. This is the reason the shell.dll files must not be properly initialized by restarting. You need to shut the system down properly. Then reboot the system under safe mode. Refresh the system and then again reboot it. This should help.

Well the shell icon cache build files might have been corrupted and should be replaced with a better one. This does happens when the system shell.dll file that has the icon cache build might have been damaged and would not be able to build the folder icon when the system is started. This can be resolved by installing or repairing the operating system by using the utility disc.

This problem can be solved by following certain steps. They are as follows:

* Go to the start menu and then t c9ontrol panel.
* Open the display option.
* Then select the plus!/effect tab.
* Uncheck the box.
* Disable the Show icons using all possible colors.
* Delete the shelliconcache from he windows folder.
* Restart the windows and then renenable the option by following the steps again.
* Reboot again and then see the changes.

If the above solution does not work you can go for the following steps too.

1) Remove the shellcioncache files first.
2) Open the TweakUI.
3) Select the repair tab and then activate Repair Assocaitons.
4) Repair the icons.
5) Open the regedit from command prompt and then go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe
6) The default string should show .exe files in the right hand pane.
7) Modify them and then go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\DefaultIcon.
8) The default string should show %1 in the right hand pane.
9) Modify it too.
