How do I remove my operating system for Dell Vista?

I have a Dell Vista laptop. I have been having some trouble with it and I would like to remove the operating system and then re install it. I have the operating system disk do I can do it, I just don't know how to remove the operating system first. I tried calling Dell for support and they were trying to make me pay over $100 bucks just to tell me what to do. Ridiculous. Does anybody know how to remove the operating system? Or at least have a few suggestions?

hey.. i had the same problem too and after daysss of reading i could find the answer until the voice of the lord told me wat to do!!!!

its not hard to do it but to know where u stand i would like to know if u have any program or files you want off the old system.???

You need to use the utility disc of Vista provided by Dell. Now insert the disc and reboot the system. In the BIOS setup make sure that the first boot device is CD/DVD ROM. Now as it is done it will automatically detect the disc and you can carry out the process as been mentioned and you need to follow for the same that is been asked to. After that you need to install the drivers for the devices.
