Quick Launch icons rearrange themselves

I have Vista Home Premium. I maintain nearly 30 icons in the Quick Launch part of the taskbar, which is locked, and normally they stay in the same positions when I reboot. But sometimes they are rearranged on boot-up. Sometimes too, even though the link is still shown, the specific icon (say, Google Earth) is missing. Are these two phenomena related? Anyway, can anyone suggest solutions, please?

You can only do one thing here. First disable the quick launch button and then enable it again. Then restart your system. The icons are missing because of which you are getting errors. Second thing if you have installed any theme or customization software then remove it. Might be causing issue. Scan your system for virus.

This may happen sometime that icons move everytime you start you start your computer because you have it on random setting. You can do is that just click on that area the refresh it by right click. After you do that, Make sure that you reboot your computer then you will notice that they do not move.

Thanks, Dr V. These problems are very infrequent and apparently unrelated. I have up-to-date full AVG security software running all the time, and scan the system for viruses weekly. I don't have any theme software other than Vista.

Thanks, MrChris, but no ... it's not on random setting and the problem is very infrequent (so only mildly annoying).
