dual boot win7 and winxp where win7 installed first

Hi ,

I am desperately need help in making dual boot my system with win xp and win7 where I have already got win 7 installed on my machine.

I upgraded from vista to win 7 ultimate but now I want to install win xo in another partition. After creating a partition I booted my system with Win Xp CD, formated the partition and copied win xp files but when system restarts, I get the " Error loading operating system" message and can't even boot in windows 7.

I think there is some problem with bootloader but I don't know how to rectify.

Can anybody help me..

There is a small hidden System partition on Windows 7 where it places the boot system files, bootmgr and the folder Boot. Windows XP needs to have access to that partition so that it too can place it's boot system files there. They are ntldr, boot.ini and NTDETECT.COM.

how do I copy the files of XP since after trying to install xp I can't even log in to any OS.

The article you have suggested, I had already gone thru but it does not solve my problem
