Shutdown & restart button in Win7 logon screen?

    Hi All,

I've 2 laptops, one installed with Vista 32 bits (HP drivers unavailable for Win7) & the other one installed with Win7 64 bits.

In Vista's logon screen, next to the password entry box, I noticed a red button allowing to schutdown/restart the computer. This doesn't show in Win7 logon screen.

Is there any mean & which one, to include this schutdown/restart button in Win7 logon screen?

    Thanks & good WE

    Hello,

It seems that there is some problem in the registry. It can be due to the Virus or malware that causes the change in the registry.

    Do the following:
    • Just click on the Start
    • Go to the Run
    • Type "regedit" on the Run box
    • Navigate to the following Key :
      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system]
    • Now create a new Dword Key named "shutdownwithoutlogon"
    • Give this key the value of 1

    Thats it !!!
    Hope it will work

Click on start button and go to run and Type gpedit.msc in input box. A new window will open, in that window go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates, and then select Start Menu and Taskbar in the left column of the Group Policy editor. Double-click on Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor. Select disable and then click OK to save the changes. I think this will help you.

Hi all & thanks for your quick answers,

Calvin K: It's precisely this little red arrow arrow at the right side of the password box that is missing.

ChrisUlrich: issue would probably been solved out with the registry, however the suggestion doesn't work.

Jesse: your suggestion removes the logoff command from the Start/Shutdown menus.

    Anything else?

If its not working then your Operating system might be got corrupted because of some virus or malware. Just format your system and reinstall the windows 7OS

    Thats it!!

    Congratulations ChrisUlrich!! I made a mismatch between 32 & 64 bits options.
