When I connected my USB device, it shows me next drive letter like D or F which is available . But I want to set drive letter manually. So that when I connects my USB drive it have to show device letter on my computer which is selected by me. So is there any setting in a USB or any software which set these device letter.

I have Kingston 8 GB USB device and I wanted to change device letter for it. Fortunately my friend gave me steps to change device letter. These steps are very simple, just go thorugh these:-

    1. Just click on start and open control panel.
    2. In that find out administrator tools and go to computer management.
    3. Click on Disk management and select USB drive from the list.
    4. Right click on that and change Drive letter and path.
    5. You can assign different unused drive letter.
    Thats it !!!!

You can change device letter by making some chances in registry. Create a folder in C drive and name it as USB.
Use the program "USB mountmanager" to map the usb key to C:\ USB.

Make changes in a following registry key
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
Now create this "CreateSubst"="subst U: C:\\USB" and after that reboot your system.

If your changing the device letter because device does not show any letter then download TweakUI and using this open your drives. In setting Check or uncheck letter to display or hide. Click OK to save changes that you made. You can download TweakUI from Microsoft.
