| Windows 7 does not refresh folder after file operation
I've got the following problem: Windows 7 does not refresh automatically the folder view (until I manually refresh by pressing F5) after the following file operations: - Create/delete/rename/move files or folders Windows 7 Professional final release, international English version. No upgrade, clean install. It seems to me it's a delay in my case: if I wait for approximately 20-30 secs, the refresh is done automatically. I've tried the followings: - Cleared IconCache - didn't help - Turned off file sharing and unshared previously shared folders - didn't help. (When file sharing is on, and there are shared folders on the volumes, the issue occurs more often.) Have You got any idea, any help? Thanks in advance! |

When you open up a folder with many subfolders and files the first time, Explorer will slowly go through it, if the green bar on top of any indication. For that you need to to follow the below steps mention.

It seems to me the issue occurs definitely on shared volumes/folders. |

Log on to the system with administrator password. Click on start and type msconfig.exe in search box and then press enter to start system configuration utility. If it ask for administrator password, then type password and press continue. In general tab click on selective startup and click to uncheck the Load startup items check box. On service tab click to select hide all Microsoft services check box and at the end press disable all. Click on OK button and restart it. |

Hi Chris, Thank You for your post, but I've already done what You've suggested (as Devasis wrote the same). Unfortunately the issue occurs after restart. It seems to me the issue occurs definitely on shared volumes/folders. |

This problem happend when CPU usage was at 100% and explorer was too slow updating status. It seems the issue only occurs when dragging the files in Windows Explorer navigation pane.Use system file checker tool which is also called SFC scan. System File Checker (SFC) checks that all your Windows 7 system files are where they should be as they were by default and not corrupted, changed, or damaged. |

How can I perform SFC scan? When I try to run sfc /scannow in the command prompt window, it displays "You must be an administrator..." - but I AM the administrator! |

OK, I've done it. SFC did not found any violations. |

I think you need to disable the services which aren't of any use to you. Do you often search for a file or folder? If no, then you can disable Indexing service as it eats a lot of memory. Like wise you can disable other services which you do not use... |

| Re: Windows 7 does not refresh folder after file operation
Thank You very much Solomon for your tips. I'll try to disable file indexing, and will post the result - but it seems to me it's a general Windows 7 bug, and I'm afraid we can't solve the problem. |
