    How to make folders inaccessible in windows xp?

    Hi, I have taken new pc in my home and now I want to make my folders inaccessible to my brother as he is playing only games on computer when I move to college or to coaching class. So, tell me something which will give me chance to give him play for specified time by making those folders inaccessible.

    You can make that folder hidden by right clicking on that folder and then clicking on properties. Then simply click on the hide option which is provided by operating system. There is no another option in windows xp to make that folder inaccessible. So you have to use third party software such as folder guard or folder lock. It may work more beneficial to you. Just try this.

    If you want to make any of your folder inaccessible to other user then simply make right click on specified folder and then select "properties" and then click the box called "hidden". Your file will now be hidden. For locking the folder it must be requirement of a third party software. But you need to use the software with full version. If it is trial then it may happen that when that version expires all of your folders will be opened directly.

    Hi, If you want to make some folders inaccessible to any one then you can hide that folder by right clicking on that folder and by clicking on properties and then selecting hidden option. After doing this you need to go to the tools option of the My Computer and in that click on folder options. Then from tabbed pane which appears your screen select view menu and make tick on Do not show hidden files and folders. Then your folder will not be displayed on screen. When you want to open that folder just click on show hidden files and folders option from folder options.

    Try this Copy the words (from cls to END ) below on a text document and click on file then Save as Give the name as locker.bat

    cls
    @ECHO OFF
    title Folder Locker
    if EXIST "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" goto UNLOCK
    if NOT EXIST Locker goto MDLOCKER
    :CONFIRM
    echo Are you sure u want to Lock the folder(Y/N)
    set/p "cho=>"
    if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
    if %cho%==y goto LOCK
    if %cho%==n goto END
    if %cho%==N goto END
    echo Invalid choice.
    goto CONFIRM
    :LOCK
    ren Locker "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
    attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
    echo Folder locked
    goto End
    :UNLOCK
    echo Enter password to Unlock folder
    set/p "pass=>"
    if NOT %pass%== type your password here goto FAIL
    attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
    ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Locker
    echo Folder Unlocked successfully
    goto End
    :FAIL
    echo Invalid password
    goto end
    :MDLOCKER
    md Locker
    echo Locker created successfully
    goto End
    :End

    It will create a folder with the name LOCKER what you have to do is simply paste the files in this folder and open the batch file again and press Y to lock again

    and to open folder again open Batch file and Press Y
