Keyboard Mouse freezes on Ubuntu 9.10

I just updated my computer from 9.04 to 9.10. I had the wonderful OS installed on my computer without any problem. But after some time mouse and keyboard stopped working. This is a serious problem because this computer is shared by my brother and he needs the computer for some college project and so i need to fix this problem right away. I cannot think of re-installing the OS as i have some data and also i don't know if this is the problem with 9.10 or it has happened due to the upgrade.. Please help me with a fix guys...

I too have the same problem. I did a clean installation of Ubuntu 9.10. I don't know what the problem is. I think this is a bug, meanwhile, till the fix is released, i will stick to Windows XP. Also any idea what may have been the culprit? Is is the keyboard mouse or some other device? Or is it graphics card? Please help... Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance...

There are a lot of updates which are already out. Why don't you guys try to update your Ubuntu. May be you will be able to sort this bug off. Also check if there is no graphics issue, try to remove the graphics card if any and then try installing Ubuntu again. I Hope this is helpful...

I think this is a kernel related issue. This bug was posted on Ubuntu's support site and there people have successfully resolved this problem by downgrading their Ubuntu system to a previous kernel. The kernel 2.6.28-r13 is working absolutely fine. I recommend you to try this out...
