Re: Error 1317 : an error occurred while attempting to create the directory

Try installing as administrator, or if the installation is done by the system (before login), make sure system has permission to create folders in this subfolder. A manual method of addressing the problem is to go to a level below the folder directory and assign Full Control Authenticated user and propagating subdirectory tree.

When you try to install a program, such as Adobe for Windows XP or Microsoft Office 2003, in Microsoft Windows XP, you may error message: error 1317. This error occurs when the SYSTEM account on the particular drive does not have correct permissions. You can use Group Policy to enable logging by modifying the appropriate organizational unit (OU) or Active Directory Group Policy:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type gpedit.msc to start the Group Policy Editor.
3. Expand Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then click Windows Installer.
4. Double-click Logging, and then click Enabled.
5. In the Logging box, specify the options for what you want to log. The log file, Msi.log, appears in the Temp folder of the system volume.

Re: Error 1317 : an error occurred while attempting to create the directory

The Adobe Acrobat installer returns the error message, "Error "1317: An error occurred while attempting to create the directory " when you use or install the application. The path may be a like C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ or it may be another path. To resolve this problem ensure that you have the necessary permissions on your hard disk or disks. To do this, Open windows explorer, select the folder. Right click the folder, then click Properties on the shortcut menu. On the security tab, click permissions. Select the "Everyone" group, then click "Full Control" in the Type of Access List. Select the Replace Permissions on Subdirectories check box. Click ok. Click yes to the prompt confirming whether you want to replace permissions on all subdirectories. Click OK in the folder name properties dialog box. Run Adobe set up.
