Vista installation error "80073B01"

hello!

I can not install the SP2 update for vista, it either download the Windows Update site or download and then extracted with another site. It was at the beginning of stage 2 that I got the error

Upon restart, step 1 / 3 runs correctly again and the following message appears in step 2: "The Service Pack was not installed. Undoing Changes"

I tried a check disk on reboot, there was no error but my serial number windows stopped working after this missed at all and I reformat. And the problem persists SP2 ....

You can not install SP2 just after reinstalling Vista ? go to Windows Update then click View history of updates. mark SP2 in the list and then double-click on the line for the error code (of the form 0xXXXXXXXX). Gives me this error code.

Yes just after reinstalling vista, it does not work for SP2 but meanwhile I installed firewall software such as AVAST (which I disabled during the attempted SP2), CCleaner, SKYPE, MSN . I let the updates happen automatically after relocation . the error code is: 80073B01 , Thank you.

Do you have installed a firewall other than Windows? If yes, disable (or uninstall it) and restarts the installation SP2.

This error is not common,i searched for this error but nothing found. One case found in which the user has solved his problem by temporarily disabling theUAC and antivirus.

After installing CCleaner did you used the complete registry cleaning? If yes and if you made a backup of the keys removed before, restore the backup of the registry, restart and then retry the SP2.

Reinstall the factory settings and then leave Vista to update before installing anything else. Once the service packs installed correctly, install your firewall software (and make sure they are all fully compatible Vista). To my knowledge, SP2 installation always goes well on a fresh install of Vista. The problem seems to come from your PC (third party software that interferes with the installation). What is important is to use the true Vista installation DVD from Microsoft.
